The winner of the PhARF Award 2014 is Prof. Stephan Weidinger
The winner is Professor Stephan Weidinger, MD, PhD, MaHM from Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergy, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, Germany.
The Award Ceremony took place at the EAACI congress in Copenhagen on Saturday June 7 as part of the Opening Ceremony.
The Scientific Committee, consisted of the Presidents of EAACI, AAAAI and WAO, has the following motivation for electing Prof Weidinger:
“Professor Stephan Weidinger is an outstanding and accomplished Physician Scientist in the field of allergy research and is most deserving of the PhARF award for 2014. For the past 12 years he has made superlative progress in delineating the complex genetics of Atopic Dermatitis. His sustained work at a level of excellence and competence is evidenced by his impeccable publication record in first line high impact journals. Identification of genes in the TH2 pathway of immunity and inflammation in accordance with evidence of genetic variants influencing skin barrier functions highlight the complexity and interaction that leads to this difficult allergic skin disease. Prof Weidinger’s work will be helpful in identifying personalized pathways of treatment for each individual Atopic Dermatitis patient.”
