A readily available source of allergens is required to develop allergy tests. Phadia has a unique competence in the large-scale cultivation of wild flowers, weeds and other plants. The bulk of the pollen based allergens are grown on 400-acre farms surrounding our processing plant in Sweden. For allergens not available in Sweden, Phadia secures supplies from relevant geographical areas. In addition to the wide variety of pollens, Phadia also produces a range of pure allergens from molds, insect venoms, foods and animal epithelia.
ImmunoCAP Allergen Components are single proteins purified from their natural source or produced via recombinant techniques for use within the field of molecular allergy.
Throughout our nearly 40-year-long history, Phadia has perfected production techniques to ensure a constant supply of pure, stable and active allergens. Custom-built premises feature separate, aseptic and environmentally controlled buildings for growing different allergens. Pure raw materials are sent to quality control and processing facilities at the test production plant in Uppsala.
