  Flexibility

The Varelisa consists of 12 single strips with 8 wells (for 96 determinations) or 6 strips with 8 wells (for 48 determinations). Single wells can be broken away separately and put into the strip holder. Remove only as many wells as needed, than reseal pouch with remaining strips and store at 2-8°C (35-46°F) until use.

  Time Saving

Total incubation time of 70 minutes for all Varelisa tests: 1. 30 minutes for incubation of diluted patient samples2. 30 minutes for incubation of the conjugate3. 10 minutes for incubation of the enzyme substrate (in the dark).

  Standardisation

Because of differences which may exist between laboratories and locations with respect to population, diet, laboratory technique and selection of reference groups, it is important for each laboratory to establish the validity of the given suggested range. A six-point standard curve facilitates the exact assessment of results.

  Sera/Plasma

All Varelisa tests were run with sera and three different plasma preparations (EDTA, Heparin, Citrate). The results for all Varelisa tests of Pharmacia Diagnostics demonstrated that the assays can be performed with serum as well as with all types of plasma tested.

  Recombinant antigens

High quality antigens on recombinant basis. 90 % of Varelisa tests are based on recombinant antigens, most often produced in eukaryotic cells (insect cell / baculovirus expression system). Phadia looks back on the longest history world-wide in producing recombinant antigens for autoimmune diagnostics.
